Steve Gardiner has been circulating in the Canadian music industry since his early days in high school. He started out as a guitar player in a high school band called Sharp Edge. He was promoted to the front man position of this group by default, as he had the best singing voice of the three members. Eventually Sharp Edge developed into Foreign Design, and then finally In And Out.

In and Out lasted for quite a few years and was a relatively successful in Canada and abroad. The group spent many years touring clubs in Canada and some parts of the U.S. During these tours, they independently released Emotional Politics, produced by Frank Levin (Eight Seconds) the first album penned by Steve. Extensive touring and strong radio support in their hometown of Ottawa gained the band a strong following.

It was at this time that In And Out signed a record deal with Hypnotic/A&M records and hit the record charts in Canada with their single "Empty House". This album was produced by Tom Treumuth (Big Sugar, Honeymoon Suite) This self titled album written by Steve also produced a #1 hit in Northern Europe with the song "One Life". That year, the Ottawa rock awards nominated Steve Gardiner as the Floyd Bell Socan Songwriter of the year as well as male vocalist of the year and "Empty House" was nominated as single of the year. Steve was also inducted into the Cornwall Musicians Hall Of Fame for his contribution to Recording and Composition.

Steve and long time recording partner Mike Seguin, opened a studio and began producing, writing and recording a new album. A new group was formed as a result of these recordings and "Famous Jane" was born. With a Canadian distribution deal already signed with MaGaDa/Oasis, the album entitled "yellow" was released in Canada in February of 2000.

Forever writing new songs, Steve took to the studio again, and recorded "Noah's Prescription", his first solo album. It was quickly signed to Sour Music/Sony and released to Canadians on November 06th, 2000. Available by contacting sgmgroupmail@aol.com.

Steve has completed work on, and is preparing to release a new solo album tentatively titled "Sonic leveling". The album features guitar player / songwriter / producer Russell Broom, known best for his work with Jann Arden. Also on board for the recordings, courtesy of EMI records, were Clint Moffatt who did the bass tracks, and Bob Moffatt who did the drum tracks on what promises to be Steve's most commercially successful album to date. Watch for release dates on this one!
